The edges of the river were frozen over and there were patches of snow in the grass. The sun was yet to touch the valley. As I stood behind my tripod looking down the valley, I watched these beautiful ribbons of colour and light fill the skies and I knew it was going to be a warm and clear day. This image is a record of that sunrise and that day up on the main range.
